Ama in Chianti, July 30, 2011
"To think always involves re-thinking, never tiring of re-thinking at every moment."
We read this aphorism somewhere and immediately jotted it down in our notebook, making it our own.
"Castello di Ama per l'Arte Contemporanea" is a project that was born in 2000.
These aspirations became reality thanks to our collaboration with Galleria Continua and to the contributions, in the concrete, of the Artists who have followed each other here.
The idea was to allow Ama's Genius Loci to take concrete shape, through the services of Art, after the hills of Ama had already yielded ample proof of constituting a wine Terroir. Thus, in both cases, Ama would have the power of kindling a spark in the Human spirit and of expressing itself in a manner totally distinctive and unique.
But thinking, as mentioned above, involves re-thinking, always.
And so this year we have chosen to take a sabbatical leave to ponder how we can nourish and continue our project so that we can maintain the freshness of its initial decade. And ideas have emerged.
So 2011 is a year of reflection, of preparation for the vernissage of 2012, an unveiling to which you are all hereby invited, where we will introduce this new conception. It will remain bonded to our corner of earth, this terroir, and will summon Artists to interact with loci that have thus far, for us, been unexplored.
For the moment, we will keep our cards closely held, saying only that, with Galleria Continua, we have sought the collaboration of friends such as Hans Ulrich Obrist and Daniel Buren, and that we have received back positive and enthusiastic reactions, as always.
So we pledge to keep you updated regarding developments with the project, and during this year of reflection you are, of course, always welcome to visit us. Our address is: arte@castellodiama.com
We look forward to seeing you soon.
