CASTELLO DI AMA
per l'arte contemporanea

A Great Wine signifies for us much more than what our senses perceive. There is another, far more important aspect that expresses the culture and the traditions of the particular land where that wine is conceived. A wine that is like centaur, where the incorporeal half reveals differences between one place and another. That wine, for those who have ears to hear, recounts, and cannot cease recounting,
its own personal history, precisely as any work of art.

From this awareness was born in 2000 the “Castello di Ama per l’Arte Contemporanea” (Castello di Ama for Contemporary Art) project, or Art and Wine, bound together, to leave a mark of the present in a locus of the ancient past, in the tiny hamlet of Ama, where time seemed to freeze its ceaseless work of stratification. No limitations of place were set, and but one condition: the creative sensitivity of the Artist, just like that of the Winemaker, must find its fecundity in Ama’s genius loci, must create a unique and inimitable work. Thus “in” and “for” that place, and no other.
